5 Things I wish I knew as a Beginner Witch!

• Your spells don’t have to be complicated for them to work! 

You don’t have to perform your spells with spirits, expensive herbs/tools, on a certain day, certain time, and even during a certain moon phase. Finding out what works best for you whether it is simple or intricate, nobody’s work is going to look the same and that’s okay! Having a simple practice doesn’t make you less powerful or lesser than! 

• Comparison is the thief of joy. 

You do not have to compete or prove your practice to others! You are magical whether it’s in secret, if it’s simple, if you are on a budget, if you are on or off social media, if you dress in all black or if you dress in all pink! You do not have to prove this to others! 

• Community, Teachers, & Friendships 

Teachers, peers, & community are some of the most valuable sources of knowledge! Find a group of people that give mistakes grace, answer your questions politely, share knowledge, & share similar beliefs. That is the true magic in it all! 

• Using “cheap” ingredients doesn’t mean they’re less powerful! 

Oh my gosh, this has been going around like a wildfire since witchtok started….. Using herbs and tools that are accessible to you doesn’t make you any less of a witch than a witch who chooses to or can buy higher quality ingredients. Whether it’s going into your yard and finding local herbs or buying great value, it is all about your intention & knowledge on the herb you’re using! 

• You will not know everything & that's okay! 

You will be constantly learning during your practice, you will not remember everything in one sitting and good things take time! Learning keeps us alive, if we know everything we will get bored. If you have made a mistake, ask for help, if someone corrects your information, take it and research it more! You will never truly always know every correspondence and topic within the craft! Lead with your heart and soul!
